LARAINE KAMINSKY - Global Diversity Strategist and Speaker -
Laraine has lived on three continents and worked in over 75 countries. As a new immigrant in Canada, Laraine worked for many years as an adult educator. In 1989, she launched her own consulting firm as a venue for organizations to develop the linguistic and cultural competencies of their diverse workforces so that they might excel in an increasingly global economy.
She is an energetic and engaging speaker and a recognized leader in the fields of global diversity, cross-cultural awareness, language training, mentoring and consulting. Given her vast experience, she is a sought after speaker on the importance of intercultural and diversity effectiveness.
She also advises, mentors, and educates leaders and team members on effective team leadership. Laraine’s contribution and commitment to her field of expertise has been recognized through her nomination as a finalist for the Women’s Business Achievement Award in Canada’s capital city.
Her ability to communicate the complexities of cultural communication is best demonstrated in her writings. She has authored many articles relating to diversity and cross-cultural communication in publications including: Profit Guide; Ottawa Human Resources Professionals Association Newsletter; HR Professional Magazine; ExportWise Magazine; ASAE and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
She has given numerous presentations at the Association of Career Management Consulting Firms International Conference, The Meeting Professionals International Conferences, ASAE Annual Meetings, The International Monetary Fund in Washington, Women in Leadership Summit, The Conference Board, The Multicultural Conference and the Summit on Leading Diversity. Laraine is also a regular contributor to international conferences hosted by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
Laraine has launched her own company, Global LK to continue her international work in the fields of global diversity and inclusion and cross-cultural competence. She also held the position of Lead Strategist at WEConnect Canada where she helped to build WEConnect Canada into a national non-profit organization positioned to make a real impact on supplier diversity as well as women-owned medium and small businesses.
She is a Qualified IDI (Intercultural Development Inventory) Administrator and COI Mastery.
Laraine takes a well-rounded approach to expanding her own competence, and draws from life experience, study, research, and travel – in particular, she enjoys exploring a culture from the seat of her bicycle. |
